At a recent staff meeting of Esquire Express, Inc, a Miami Delivery Service a discussion was held regarding ways to reduce fuel costs for the company’s fleet of same day couriers.

These were some of the comments of the drivers:
Joe Suarez, a routed same day courier said, “It’s important to plan your daily routes so that you cover the least amount of distance”. While Joe was speaking about the daily route of deliveries he handles as a Miami courier for Esquire Express, this tip can apply to your every day errands as well.

Same day courier, Adrian Fernandez added, “You need to check your tire pressures often. If the pressure is wrong, you’re wasting gas and wearing out your tires faster.” While the couriers at Esquire Express tend to check their tire pressures daily, once a week should be enough for the average consumer.
Even though it may be a difficult thing for a South Florida courier to do, Esquire Express same day courier, Alan Samuels says, “Running your air conditioning really burns up gas. Unless you are driving on the highway, keep the AC off to save on gas.” Working for a Miami delivery service without running your air conditioning may not be a comfortable choice, but it is a gas saver.

Another South Florida courier, Ana Taylor, finds that, “Keeping my car tuned up really cuts down on my fuel costs. Getting a regular oil change and changing the filters as recommended really helps as well.” While working for a courier delivery service means she is burning more fuel than the average commuter, these habits keep Ana’s costs down as much as possible.

Veteran Miami courier, David Avila finds slowing down to be a good idea while he handles deliveries for Esquire Express. He says, “Speeding all over town doesn’t really save you much time of you really think about it. Plus you are risking getting in an accident, and burning a lot more gas than you need to be.” While his job as a South Florida courier requires him to get packages delivered on time, through careful planning and years of experience, David is able to accomplish this without having to resort to breaking posted speed limits.

Esquire Express’ same day courier, William Aaron offered the following observation, “People drive around with their cars just full of junk. The more weight your car has to carry, the more fuel you are using to drive around. If you want to save some gas, take all of that extra stuff out of your trunk!”
William also had the following observation, “While you want to save as much money as possible on gas, it doesn’t make sense to drive 10 miles out of your way to do it!”

When the meeting broke, rookie same day courier Xavier Johnson said to me, “I hadn’t stopped to realize how much all these little things add up. Simple things can really make a difference.” Hopefully both the veterans and the rookies at Esquire Express learned from the discussion on how to operate more efficiently, and hopefully their insights can help the average consumer as well.
